Yes and No. If it is simply a one-time sale and generally “Garage Sale” merchandise – The State of Illinois does not require a Sales Tax Number. If you are selling for profit, generally you should have an Illinois State Sales Tax Number. Please contact the State of Illinois for the appropriate forms necessary to request a Sales Tax Number.
